MID-YEAR SHOWCASE
INFORMATION

Friday 12th June

LUC Hall, Lindfield Uniting Church

(Open to all DANCE1 students in Kindy - Year 12)

What is the Mid-Year Showcase?

The DANCE1 Mid-Year Showcase is a wonderful opportunity for dancers to perform for their loved ones in a relaxed and encouraging environment. This performance marks the halfway point of your dancer's year in class and is an important milestone on the road to our end-of-year concerts in October.

Each student will showcase the class work which they have been mastering during their weekly lesson - at the barre, in the centre and from the corner. Our teachers have seen the progress and improvement from week to week and so now we invite our families to watch and celebrate the incredible achievements of our students.

Why participate?

The Mid-Year Showcase is just one of our mid-year performance opportunities, and participants gain experience and skills from being involved.

It gives our dancers:

  • A low-pressure performance experience that builds confidence

  • A clear goal to motivate and focus their practice mid-year

  • A chance to feel proud of their progress and enjoy the spotlight

For our families:

  • It gives them an exclusive look into what happens in class each week - a moment to sit down between the weekly hustle & bustle of extra-curricular activities.

  • It is a chance for the whole family to be involved, from parents to grandparents, siblings and friends. Your performer's fee covers entry for as many loved ones as you want to bring!

Most importantly it reinforces that dance is about growth and progress, not perfection.

DANCE1 teachers lead and support dancers through their class work and give them the sense of familiarity. This helps them focus on doing their best without the added stress of remembering their tendus and pliés from memory.

Extra lessons

All preparation for the Mid-Year Showcase takes place (and has been already) during weekly classes so there are no extra rehearsals to attend.

Performance Schedule

When performing on Friday 12th June, dancers will be grouped by age so each session is tailored to the styles and classes.

Kindy & Year 1 - MiniBlast (Jazz, Tap, Modern and Ballet)

Year 2 & 3 -DemiBlast (Jazz, Tap, Modern and Ballet)

Year 4, 5 & 6 - DanceBlast (Jazz, Broadway, Modern)

Year 7 & above - DanceBlast (Jazz only)

Within each session, dancers may also present some additional classwork from other styles.

Each session runs for approximately 45 minutes and is designed to be simple and stress-free for families. Arrive, enjoy your dancer's performance and head off after their class is done. No need to stay for the whole evening.

Sessions will run between 4.00 - 8.00pm, working through age groups from youngest to oldest. Exact times will be available in the coming weeks well in advance of the performance day.

Cost

The Mid-Year Showcase participation is $50 per performer

Families do not need to purchase tickets for this event (covered by your performer's fee) as we want to welcome as many friends and family members as you would like to watch!

There is no additional charge for our C.B.A.A. Medal Day participants who will perform in our Mid-Year Showcase as their final rehearsal.

Participation & Registration

The Mid-Year Showcase is a studio-wide performance event, not just for those participating in the C.B.A.A. Medal Day.

We consider it an important part of every student's development and growth. We strongly encourage all DANCE1 students to participate and make the most of this valuable performance opportunity.

We understand that exceptional circumstances may occasionally prevent a dancer from taking part. Please simply indicate this when confirming your participation below.

Either way, we ask that all DANCE1 families confirm their intention (whether participating or not)

via the form below.

Registrations close on Friday 29th May
